Creating an instructional video for the flipped instruction
In this study, I worked with Emirhan Korkmaz, Hüseyin Obut, and Emir Batu Özdemir. We prepared a study using the Flipped Instruction method. Flipped Instruction Approach is a learning approach that reverses the traditional education model. In the traditional model, the teacher teaches in the classroom and the students do their homework at home. In Flipped Instruction, students first examine the course materials at home, get an idea about the subject, and then come to class. Class time is mostly devoted to activities such as discussion, problem-solving, and group work. This type of learning has many benefits. Some of these are; students use their time in class more effectively, each student has the opportunity to learn at their own pace, and there are more opportunities for practice in class.
While doing this assignment, I think we did a successful work with the interaction and fun working environment as a group. We chose “Prepositions of Places” as a grammar topic. First, we made a general introduction to the subject. Then we explained the topic with visuals for each preposition. Then we read a reading text, according to text answered questions about it, and reinforced the topic. The most difficult part of the work was recording the sound, it was a bit challenging to set the timing and find the right environment. We also did a kahoot exercise to see if the students understood.
In general, I think this study is very useful for new-generation teaching. I will use this technique in my teaching life in the future.
